Acceptable use
Last updated October 17, 2026
Every writer on Emeli shares the same reputation with inbox providers, so these rules protect all of us. Breaking them can mean paused sends, lower limits or a closed account.
Permission only
- Email only people who asked to hear from you, and only about what they signed up for.
- No bought, rented, shared, scraped or “opt-out” lists, and no addresses copied from business cards, directories or websites.
- Imported lists must be people who gave you their consent. We keep double opt-in on by default, and anyone who unsubscribed, bounced or asked to be forgotten is never re-added.
Honest emails
- Use a sender name and subject line that say who you are and what the email is about.
- Keep the unsubscribe link and your postal address that Emeli adds to every newsletter.
- Never pretend to be another person, company or service.
Content that isn't allowed
- Anything illegal where you or your readers are.
- Phishing, malware, or links meant to deceive.
- Harassment, threats, or hate directed at people or groups.
- Sexually explicit material.
- Get-rich-quick schemes, unlicensed financial or medical offers, and illegal gambling.
- Content that infringes someone else's rights.
Healthy sending
Keep bounces under about 2% and spam reports under 0.1% of each send. Emeli pauses a send automatically when it goes well past those levels, and new publications start with a daily limit that grows after clean sends.
The service itself
- Don't try to get around sending limits or pauses.
- Don't probe, overload or break Emeli, or access anyone else's account or data.
Reporting abuse
Got an email sent with Emeli that you didn't ask for? Forward it to hello@emeli.io with “Abuse” in the subject. We look at every report.
